TFDIdesign MD11 Update MSFS2024

If you have been waiting for an excuse to dust off the tri-jet and go hunting for long-haul glory, this is it.

This week, TFDi Design published an announcement titled “MD-11 Update Released,” dated February 25, 2026, detailing both the big 1.1 release from early January and a fresh follow-up patch that focuses on polish and pilot experience.

Version 1.1: the big leap forward

According to the announcement, version 1.1 delivered official support for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 along with broad upgrades across the aircraft. Highlights called out include reworked sounds, a completely remodeled exterior model, and overhauls to major code systems. The update also marked the first public release of the Extended Simulation package, with a full changelog and an official trailer linked in the post.

The February 24 update: the Week 1 patch for 1.1

The very next chapter is what they describe as the first major update since 1.1, released on February 24, 2026. The focus here is refinement: tightening the overall experience, adding finishing touches, and leaning hard into integration and usability improvements.

In particular, the team says the patch prioritizes:

  • Broader integration with third-party and external software and hardware

  • VR experience optimization

  • Continued rounding-out of systems, artwork, and sounds
All with “pilot experience” as the main theme.

They also offer a simple challenge to lapsed owners: if you have not flown it recently, bring it out of the hangar and try what they’re calling the definitive edition of the MD-11.

What happens next: marketplace, console, and platform support

The announcement also lays out what to expect going forward:

PC Marketplace: They say they are exporting and sending packages to Microsoft for review, and timing depends primarily on Microsoft’s side of the process.

Xbox: With “active development concluded,” they plan to begin converting assets for Xbox, while avoiding promises on timing.

P3D: They note many fixes from this update were applied to Prepar3D as well, but also state that new sales were stopped when 1.1 released and there will be no future effort for the P3D version.

The takeaway for sim pilots

This is the kind of update cycle that matters: a major feature-and-fidelity jump, followed quickly by a patch that targets the unglamorous stuff that makes you actually want to fly the airplane for hours. Better integration, smoother VR, more system and sound refinement, and a clear roadmap for marketplace and console support.

For Sky Blue Radio listeners and flight sim fans, the timing is perfect. If your virtual schedule has room for a three-engine throwback with modern polish, the MD-11 just put its name back on the departure board.
