Fenix A320 Version 3 Lands With Major Systems Overhaul and Virtual Cabin Crew

Fenix Simulations has released Version 3 of its Airbus A320 family, delivering a free update for existing A320 and A319/A321 expansion owners in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. Available through the Fenix installer, the release brings extensive changes to navigation, aircraft handling, cockpit systems and cabin operations.

Fenix A320 Version 3 Lands With Major Systems Overhaul and Virtual Cabin Crew

Following the preview we covered earlier this week, pilots can now take the updated aircraft flying—and give their virtual passengers a cabin crew that does considerably more than announce the weather.

New Foundations for the Flight Deck

Fenix says it has reworked the aircraft’s inertia, refined rotation and flare behavior, and retuned the fly-by-wire controllers, flight director and autopilot. The developer reports validating its handling against five certified full-flight simulators alongside feedback from real A320 pilots.

Navigation receives substantial attention, including revised vertical guidance and deceleration behavior. The changes aim to produce more realistic descent management and better handling of situations that require additional drag.

The update also rebuilds important engine-control and flight-warning systems. Fenix says improvements developed during its A320neo work have been brought back into the existing A320ceo family.

Meet Your New Virtual Purser

Version 3 introduces an expanded Virtual Purser and Airline Packs system, giving cabin operations a more active role throughout the flight.

According to Fenix’s documentation, the Virtual Purser responds to flight events and can handle passenger announcements, door arming, lavatory locking and cabin checks. These actions follow specific conditions rather than simply playing an announcement at a fixed moment.

For virtual captains who already manage the flight plan, radios and coffee supply, having someone else check the cabin sounds like a sensible staffing decision.

Check Compatibility Before Departure

Fenix advises users that aircraft mods may need updates following the extensive changes. Pilots experiencing unusual behavior should remove those modifications when troubleshooting.

The developer also flags uncertainty around MSFS 2024’s Sim Update 7 drag modeling. Although testing did not reveal major problems, Fenix says unexpected effects on aircraft behavior remain possible.

Navigation data updating has changed too, so users should review the updated instructions before their next flight.

Available Now

Existing owners can download Version 3 through the Fenix installer. The release also expands the soundscape, revises ground handling and introduces additional cockpit and EFB improvements.
