simHeaven has released X-WORLD Pro, a new generation of its global VFR scenery system for X-Plane 12. The package is designed to make cities, towns, roads, vegetation, landmarks and other scenery elements follow real-world geographic data much more closely than the simulator’s standard autogen approach.
Rather than concentrating on one airport or region, X-WORLD Pro is intended to cover the entire planet through continental packages for Europe, Africa, America, Asia, Australia-Oceania and Antarctica.
A More Recognizable X-Plane World
The core idea behind X-WORLD is straightforward: buildings and scenery objects should appear where they actually exist.
simHeaven uses OpenStreetMap information together with Microsoft building-footprint data and other geographic sources to position buildings and objects instead of relying primarily on generalized autogen rules.

The original X-WORLD packages already cover Europe, America, Africa, Asia, Australia-Oceania and Antarctica.
They rely on geographic data to place scenery more realistically and use a dedicated vegetation library tied into X-Plane 12’s seasonal vegetation system.
X-WORLD Pro takes that concept further with a more detailed scenery structure and broader visual enhancements.
Designed for VFR Flying
The product is aimed particularly at pilots who spend time below the flight levels.
Flying an airliner at FL370 makes the exact placement of a suburban supermarket somewhat academic.
Flying a Cessna at 2,500 feet while following a highway is another matter entirely.
