Atelic Recreates Venice’s Main Aviation Gateway
Located beside the Venetian Lagoon, Venice Marco Polo Airport—identified by the codes LIPZ and VCE—serves as the primary aviation gateway to Venice and northeastern Italy.
Its waterside location gives pilots an arrival experience that differs significantly from the usual collection of highways, warehouses and suburban neighborhoods surrounding many major airports.
Atelic’s recreation includes the airport’s current 2026 layout and its latest terminal extension. The developer has produced dedicated editions for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, allowing each version to use features available through its respective simulator SDK.
The airport terminal has been modeled inside and out, with check-in areas, security checkpoints, duty-free shops, lounges, retail areas and boarding gates included.
Animated Boats Bring the Lagoon to Life
The scenery does not stop at the airport perimeter.
Animated boat traffic travels between Marco Polo Airport and the nearby island of Murano, while the airport’s boat terminal includes its own modeled interior. Surrounding canals, waterways and boatyards have also been recreated.
Custom terrain extends into the lagoon’s marshlands, complemented by satellite imagery, vegetation, roads and landside infrastructure. Nearby facilities such as Associazione Nautica Bubi are included alongside detailed Leonardo and SuperJet International hangars.
The SuperJet hangar also includes a modeled interior.
These features help connect the airport to its distinctive environment instead of leaving it sitting on the edge of a generic body of water. Venice, after all, was never going to settle for an ordinary parking lot with airplanes.
Updated Aprons, Jetways and Ground Details
Airport surfaces are built around a custom ground polygon created by Jakub Łukaszewski.
The package includes accurate apron markings, stand layouts, weathering, rubber deposits and surface wear. Custom taxiway signs are also included to help pilots navigate the field.
Fully functional custom jetways serve the terminal gates, while animated airport vehicles and other moving scenery elements add activity around the ramps.
The scenery includes compatibility with AI traffic and ships with a custom GSX profile. That should make it easier for pilots using FSDreamTeam’s ground-handling software to position aircraft, passengers and service equipment correctly around the airport.
Users can also configure Runway 04L/22R for taxiway operations, reflecting the way the secondary surface may be used during real-world airport operations.

MSFS 2024 Adds Walkable Terminal Interiors
The Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 edition takes advantage of the newer simulator’s avatar system.
Users can optionally explore the modeled terminal interiors on foot, walking through passenger areas that would normally only be seen through an aircraft window. Ambient terminal sounds recorded at Venice Marco Polo Airport are included to make those interior spaces feel more active.
Atelic has also provided options for static or animated passengers, adjustable people density and the ability to disable selected scenery elements.
Those controls should be useful for users balancing visual detail against simulator performance, particularly when operating complex airliners with AI traffic and ground-service add-ons enabled.
Performance Can Be Adjusted
Atelic says the scenery has been optimized with configurable detail levels intended to support a range of computer hardware.
The included scenery configurator allows users to control passengers and other optional features, reducing the number of animated or detailed objects when additional performance is needed.
The MSFS 2024 edition requires a 1.70 GB download and occupies approximately 3.02 GB after installation. The MSFS 2020 version is slightly larger, with a 1.79 GB download and an installed size of approximately 3.68 GB.
Both editions are installed and managed through Orbx Central.

Available Through OrbxDirect
Atelic’s Venice Marco Polo Airport for MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020 are available through OrbxDirect.
Each dedicated edition is currently listed at A$20.99, approximately US$14.50 before regional taxes and currency adjustments.
With updated airport facilities, functional jetways, detailed interiors and an unusually complete recreation of the surrounding waterways, Atelic’s latest scenery offers more than another terminal and runway package.
It gives virtual pilots a new way to arrive in Venice—without needing to worry about where they parked the gondola.
