TFDi Design has released its MD-11 for Xbox in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. The package includes passenger and freighter variants, high-fidelity aircraft systems, two cabin-detail options and 18 liveries spanning the trijet’s passenger and cargo history.
Passenger and Freighter Variants Included
Both the passenger and freighter MD-11 are included in the Xbox package. That gives console pilots the choice of recreating historic long-haul passenger service or operating the cargo missions for which the MD-11 remains especially well known.
TFDi says the Xbox edition delivers the same high-fidelity systems simulation and immersive visuals featured in the PC release.
Pilots can also choose between high-poly and low-poly cabin models. The high-detail option provides the best interior visuals, while the lower-detail cabin can help improve performance on console hardware.
The MD-11 joins a growing collection of complex aircraft available to console pilots. Microsoft has continued expanding aircraft and platform support through its 2026 Microsoft Flight Simulator roadmap.

TFDi has included 18 liveries covering General Electric and Pratt & Whitney-powered passenger and freighter aircraft.

The collection gives pilots plenty of options for historic passenger routes and present-day cargo operations.
Extended Simulation Remains PC-Only
TFDi confirmed that the Extended Simulation package is not available on Xbox.
The Xbox aircraft still includes TFDi’s standard high-fidelity systems simulation. However, console users will not receive the additional component wear, maintenance tracking and advanced failure-management features available through Extended Simulation on PC.
This is an important distinction for pilots comparing the two editions, particularly those interested in persistent aircraft maintenance and failure scenarios.
Another Complex Aircraft for Xbox Pilots
The MD-11’s arrival continues the expansion of advanced aircraft available to Microsoft Flight Simulator’s console audience. Other developers are also bringing increasingly sophisticated aircraft to Xbox, including the recently announced AzurPoly Dassault Rafale C.
With its distinctive three-engine configuration and reputation as a demanding aircraft, the MD-11 offers a different experience from the modern twin-engine airliners that dominate today’s virtual flight decks.
Whether carrying passengers in classic KLM colors or hauling freight overnight for FedEx, UPS or Lufthansa Cargo, Xbox pilots can finally put TFDi’s famous trijet to work.
The TFDi Design MD-11 is available on Xbox for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Complete release and support information is available in the official TFDi Design announcement.
