More Control on the Ground
One of the headline additions is separate tiller and rudder control for nosewheel steering, giving pilots another option when configuring their hardware.
The update also adds APU GEN button functionality and new Electronic Instrument System export variables. These additions sit alongside a broader collection of systems corrections in TFDi’s official changelog.
For home cockpit builders, the steering change is a particularly useful reason to revisit control assignments before the next departure. A heavy tri-jet deserves a little finesse around the terminal—even when the virtual ramp crew isn’t watching.
Attention to Hand Flying and Automation
TFDi has corrected an issue in which the Longitudinal Stability Augmentation System, or LSAS, could introduce a deadzone or counter-input while hand flying. Automatic pitch trim has also been corrected to reference elevator position rather than yoke position.
Other fixes address IRS quick alignment, repeated altitude alerts, and the flight management system and autopilot failing to respect holding speed.

These are practical changes for pilots who enjoy working through the MD-11’s procedures and disconnecting the automation for part of the flight.
Stability Work and Smaller Details
The changelog also includes a workaround for a WASM memory-management issue. Additional corrections cover cargo fire-agent timer resets, landing gear indications, and the engine heat-blur effect in MSFS 2024. The workaround should be understood as ongoing stability work, rather than a guarantee that every crash has been resolved.
Owners who use TFDi’s installer can obtain the update through the MD-11 Install Manager. Marketplace customers should check their simulator’s content management system for the available version.
The full list of changes is available in the official TFDi Design MD-11 changelog.
