A More Recognizable Luxembourg City
Luxembourg may be one of Europe’s smallest countries, but its capital combines historic architecture, modern institutions and a distinctive skyline that makes it an attractive destination for virtual sightseeing.
OrbitForge’s new scenery replaces and supplements the simulator’s default buildings with a collection of custom landmarks. Particular attention has been given to the modern Kirchberg district, where many of Luxembourg’s European institutions, office towers and cultural venues are located.
Buildings have been positioned with accurate proportions, orientation and placement, helping pilots identify the city more easily while flying visual routes or approaching Luxembourg Airport.
More Than 70 Handcrafted Buildings
OrbitForge says the package includes more than 70 individually modeled structures. Each building uses detailed geometry and physically based rendering materials designed to provide more realistic surfaces under changing weather and lighting conditions.
Custom night lighting and emissive details also give the city a more distinctive appearance after sunset.
The developer has balanced visual quality with performance by using optimized textures, geometry and level-of-detail models. This should allow the enhanced cityscape to blend naturally with the surrounding simulator scenery without placing an unnecessary load on users’ systems.
Key features include:
- More than 70 handcrafted buildings
- Enhanced Kirchberg district and city skyline
- Detailed PBR materials and textures
- Custom night lighting
- Accurate building placement and proportions
- Optimized geometry and level-of-detail models
- Compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024
Built for VFR Tours and Luxembourg Approaches
The scenery should be especially appealing to pilots who enjoy low-altitude VFR flying. Luxembourg City’s compact layout makes it possible to see many of the included landmarks during a relatively short sightseeing flight.
The package should also improve arrivals and departures at Luxembourg Airport, also known by its ICAO identifier ELLX. Located only a few miles east of the city center, the airport offers convenient access to the enhanced scenery during normal airline, business aviation and general aviation operations.
