HarExperience Brings Edinburgh Airport to X-Plane 12

HarExperience has released Edinburgh Airport (EGPH) for X-Plane 12, adding a new Scottish destination for virtual airline, cargo and general aviation operations.

HarExperience Brings Edinburgh Airport to X-Plane 12

Released October 22, the scenery recreates the terminal, piers, hangars and surrounding infrastructure using real-world references. The developer lists it at €18.99, while the X-Plane.org Store displays a price of $18.99. Pilots should check their preferred storefront for current pricing and applicable taxes.

For anyone looking for an excuse to point the nose toward Scotland, this should do nicely. Packing an umbrella remains optional in the simulator.

Detail Across the Airport

The scenery includes custom airport buildings, landside roads and parking areas, alongside recreated runway, taxiway, apron and stand layouts.

High-resolution PBR textures add material detail and weathering, supported by custom ground markings, signage and pavement features. Smaller elements include rooftop equipment, fencing, service areas and ground equipment.

Custom night lighting extends the airport’s appeal to early departures and evening arrivals.

Performance Is Part of the Design

HarExperience says optimization was a major development priority, with efficient geometry and carefully managed textures intended to limit the scenery’s performance impact.

The terminal windows use techniques designed to suggest depth and interior detail without requiring fully modeled interiors throughout.

Those are developer claims rather than results from a Sky Blue Radio performance test, but they outline the intended balance between visual detail and everyday usability.

Flexible Terrain Compatibility

The product listing advertises compatibility with Orbx TrueEarth, Map Enhancement, custom orthophoto scenery and default X-Plane 12 terrain.

The package does not impose its own custom orthophotos, allowing users to retain their preferred terrain imagery. AI traffic compatibility and support for airport ground operations are also listed.

Available for X-Plane 12

Edinburgh is designed specifically for X-Plane 12, with Windows, macOS and Linux support listed by the retailer.

For pilots building a collection of British destinations, it provides another option for domestic hops, European services or a longer international arrival—with plenty of opportunity to enjoy the airport at either end of the working day.
